Description: One of the more remote sections of the Edisto River. This section adheres to the river’s reputation of being beautiful, remote, and relaxing. Parts have narrow gaps due to fallen trees, so keep a look up ahead and set yourself up to avoid them. If this is your first time floating a natural river, I wouldn’t recommend this section due to the narrow gaps and fallen trees.
Length: 4 miles
Cost: Free
Note: This gauge does not tell the depth of the water throughout the entire float. It is measured in a single place to give an overall idea of the height of the river compared to other days measurements.
This portion of the Edisto is really no longer safe for tubing. Please avoid it at all cost if possible. Besides dodging fallen trees you must also deal with the trees that are already in the water for 3 hrs. There is not much entertainment or scenery on this portion of the river. I did the Ghavins landing to Good Hope and even that was too much.. 6/14/15..
